How to survive a bowel prep Many of us have endured this process before you, and here is what we have learnt: Prepare yourself mentally! Eat lightly a couple of days before the bowel prep. Eat more fruit and green vegetables and reduce meat and dairy products. Then between 10am noon drink the first bottle of Gatorade as fast as possible. About 3 hours later, drink the second bottle of Gatorade. You should start feeling rumblings and perhaps feel the need to have a bowel movement.
